when you think about it !
Google looks into websites to find links back to other websites.
And it is looking for links to your website!
The more links going to your website from a variety of other websites, (and preferably highly ranked websites), then the more value Google places on your website.
So, when Google finds a link to your website in another website, (including article and video sites, social media sites, etc.), it gives you some “brownie points”.
So what does Google make of a link like this?
This is known as a “tiny url”.
You can create them at sites such as this one… http://tinyurl.com/
And they are great for putting into emails where a long link could easily break.
We were using these for a while until our SEO Team Leader gave us a big rap over the knuckles – OUCH !!
Because when a search engine sees a tiny url on a webpage it cannot readily tell where that tiny url leads.
So be careful to only use tiny url’s in places where it will not impact on your search engine ranking.
