Top 7 Ways to Make Your Website Work
The most effective websites for providers of professional services have “Business and Marketing Tools” built-in so that you can leverage all of your marketing efforts.
It really is quite simple if your website is set up properly, but it does take a fair amount of planning and preparation.
Here’s the top 7 things you need to do . . .
1. Clear Design
Your website should be clear, concise and complete.

Make you message very clear and easy to understand.
Make it short and to the point. If you need to write lengthy pieces about what you do, then at least provide a concise summary in the first couple of paragraphs.
And make sure that you cover all of the questions and/or information that your customers are likely to have.

2. Use keywords on your new pages.
When you create a new page, add keywords to make the page easier to find.
Your website should have a place on the edit page to add keywords, so that all of the coding happens automatically for you behind the scenes.
You should not have to worry about how to code keywords behind your pages. However, you should make sure to repeat the keywords or keyword phrases 3-5 times in the content words of the page.

3. Headlines should promise benefits.
You will commonly see a “Services” page, but “Steps to Increase Revenue” or whatever your key benefit is will be much more attractive and engaging for your readers.
Within each page, use headings and sub-headings to break up the content and make it easy to follow.
Your web designer will (should) set these up so that they format automatically for you.
Make the content on your site easy to read and make sure that on each page you provide clear steps for your reader to take next . . . whether that be to buy something, link to another page, subscribe, etc . . .
Your website should be informative, easy to use and fun to visit.
4. Build your credibility
You will build your credibility and establish the value of your website by providing good and informative content.
Becoming the authority on your subject is not that difficult if your follow these steps.
You can extend this reach by using the functions that should be available in your website to send the information to your email database and to social media.
5. Promote offline as well
Promote your website on every occasion possible.
Put it on all of your printed media and promotional articles, your offline advertising and during talks and presentations.
The more that people who know more about you, the more likely they are to contact you and do business with you. So make sure that all new contacts know your website address; from networking contacts to client referrals, etc.
6. Use your email signature
In addition to your name and phone number, make sure that you promote your website address in your email signature, along with a short message enticing people to pick on the link.
Remember the WIIFM . . . “What’s In It For Me” for them.
If your email is answering a question, remember to add a link to an article that you have previously written about the subject.
And if you have not yet written the article, then that is a perfect subject for your next article.
7. Drive web traffic to your outcomes
Design your site to lead the visitor to your “Most Wanted Response.”
Make it easy for them to get where you want them to go.
This might be a qualified prospect filling out an enquiry form or calling you to do business
with you.
Know what action you want people to take and build your website in such a way that this action
happens most often.
Follow these simple steps and your website is sure to be a lot more effective in attracting new customers, and bringing back existing customers to buy more from you.
