Have you been chewing up your mobile data faster of late?
Well get used to it, because with more Apps on your phone, it is only going to increase, and you are going to have to buy more and bigger data downloads.
But there are some things that you can do to stem the tide. Here are some quick tips . . .

We’ve just been away for a few days, and so have been doing every on our mobile devices and mobile data downloads.
And we were surprised at how quickly the data got used up. So I looked further into this . . .
Let’s face it – these days you have to be online, and a lot of marketing is done via Facebook.
So you are going to be using more and more data on your mobile devices if you are not always close to a wi-fi network.
The most recent, and possibly the most significant change in this regard is that Facebook started with the automatic streaming of videos.
You will notice that a video in your news feed starts playing as soon as it scrolls onto your screen.
In order to do this, the Facebook App has already pre-loaded at least some, if not all, of the video content . . . even if you are not at all interested in watching the video.
Great for convenience, but not so good for your data usage.
What are the chances that you want to watch every video in your news feed? Very slim I would think.
Change Your Settings
Fortunately, there is a solution for this, and this time Facebook have already provided it.
You can change the settings in Facebook so that your phone or tablet does not pre-load video content.
For iPad and iPhone: Settings > Facebook > Settings > Auto-play on WiFi only

For other devices, just Google for something like – “facebook stop video autoplay”
Saving Data also Saves Battery
Downloading data means your phone is constantly connecting to the internet – basically sending and receiving radio signals.
This is one of the most energy expensive things that your phone can do.
So saving on data downloads also extends your battery life.
Well, that is quite simple really!

VERY EASY TO FOLLOW THANK YOU FOR INFO
This is probably a bit basic but you can also just turn off your mobile data roaming 🙂 Google maps are the worst battery chewers.
That would work too, Annabel, but it would also turn off all other online services including web browsing, getting emails, etc. which you might still want to use.
