Inbound Marketing – Are You Doing It Wrong?

Inbound marketing has many benefits loved & favoured by entrepreneurs & business owners.  

These include increased brand awareness, increased brand preference, increased chance of developing a relationship with customers, etc.

Plus, it’s comparatively less expensive than traditional outbound marketing tactics.  So, are you doing Inbound Marketing wrong?

Many businesses have stated that, despite the great amount of effort they put into developing the most perfect inbound marketing plan, the results they received weren’t up to par.

Here are some reasons why you are not getting the results you want from inbound marketing.

Aiming At The Wrong Targets

Inbound marketing is literally you offering content on the Internet in the hopes that people will find you interesting enough to engage in a conversation.

What usually happen is marketers only focus on getting the broadest reach possible.

However, when you’re trying to achieve a broad reach, you end up with so many low potential leads that do more harm than good for the business.

To improve the effectiveness of your inbound marketing plans, you must first know how to select the right audience for your content. It’s better to stay away from tactics that reach a wide audience and focus on highly-targeted ones that could help you break through the clutter.

Your Existence Is Not Recognised By Prospects

If you don’t know about something, it’s impossible to search for it.

The same goes for the relationship between you & your prospects: if they don’t know about you, they can’t search about you.

The possible reason for this is that you are not sharing the right type of content.  Or you are not sharing it in the right place – where your prospects can find it.

For example:  You are only offering solutions with your content. But your prospects might only search with keywords for their problems, which means your paths might never cross.

Possible solution for this problem is to focus more on the prospect’s problems & concerns than you do on your product & solution.

Remember, those in the early stages of the purchasing cycle are mainly looking for educational, not promotional, information.

Prospects Don’t Understand What You Do

You might not be clear enough about what exactly your business is offering to the prospects.  This can cause confusion & reluctance to buy.

Check your product description & your promotional content again to see if you unintentionally confuse your audience about what your business is doing.

And if you are not sure about that, then the best and most accurate way to deal with it is to talk directly to your customers and prospects.  Or have someone do it for you.
