At Hotpink Websites, we have been building websites since 2007, so we have accumulated a lot of experience and knowledge, and answered a lot of questions.
These are questions received by email and on our website . . . and in most cases, these are the replies that we sent back.
“Do I need programming ability to use my website?”
No. Your website is built using WordPress so that it is easy to use and to maintain your content, even with no programming experience.
You will find a library of 1 minute video clips in the admin area of your website, making it very easy to check up on how-to-do things that you may have forgotten from our training session.
“What do I need in order to manage my website?”
To maintain your website content, you need an internet connection and an internet browser. That’s all. There is no software to install.
“How long does it take to build my website?”
That depends a lot on the size and scope of the project. And on how readily available are the resources, (information, content, images, etc), needed to complete the project.
We will discuss this with you as we plan out the project with you.
“I am wanting to know pricing.”
Pricing varies widely, depending on the size and scope of the project.
It’s like saying “give me a price for a new car” . . . do you want / need a Ferrari or a Hyundai? And even then, what options do you want in the car ?
That’s why we offer the free consultation up front to ascertain what are your needs, and how best to meet them . . . as well as identifying the opportunities for automating business processes in your website to save you time and money.

“Can I use my website to generate more sales?”
Yes, we develop websites that have business and marketing tools built in – so that you can start straight away with marketing from your website.
All of our websites have email marketing and social media connectivity built-in because we believe that these are basic marketing functions that all websites should have, (but most do not).
“Do you ship your work offshore?”
Do you mean, do we outsource work offshore?
Our website contractors are Australian based as we found offshore to be much less reliable and the quality of work much lower than we require.
As many off our clients found out before they came to us, working with offshore companies can be very difficult and frustrating. Offshore services may mean well, but their attention to detail is lacking.
“Will my website work on mobile devices?”
Yes, we have been building mobile friendly websites for many years now . . . as soon as mobile browsing started to become a trend.
If you have not updated your website, then Googles Mobile Changes WILL Affect You
“Can I please have your fax number?”
Sorry, what is a “fax”?
We haven’t had one of those things for decades.
“Do I need to setup my own domain name and hosting?”
We will discuss this during our initial consultation. We will explain how we can assist you with this if you do not a already have it in place.
“What is a CMS?”
A CMS or Content Management System is the tool that allows you to edit and manage your website content.
It is important for you to check that you have a CMS in your next website that is easy for you to use, so that you can make the best use of your website.
If you can use Microsoft Word, then you can edit and manage the website that we will build for you – simple!
“What about Training?”
When we launch your website, we give you a training session to get you started and we provide ongoing support to make sure that you get the most out of your website.
In addition to that, you will find a library of 1 minute video clips in the admin area of your website, making it very easy to check up on how-to-do things that you may have forgotten from our training session.
“What is a Domain Name?”
A domain name is the address of your website.
Think of it as the instructions for web browsers and Google to find where your website, (your online information), is stored.
“What is Web Hosting?”
Web hosting as the place where your website information is stored.
Think of web hosting as the house for your website information to live in, and your domain name is like the address of the house so that people can find where your website information lives.
