Have a Plan for Your Blog
It is certainly a great idea to be able to write about things “in the moment” as they are happening, or soon after.
Having a plan or outline is a great way to stay on track?
Remember what we said a couple posts back about keeping focussed!
So . . .
How to Get Started
First, list key ideas and subjects that you want to blog about that have some relation to your topic.
Next to each, place an indicative date when you might want to publish this information.
This is important for time sensitive subjects, e.g. related to a product launch or news release, and will keep you on track to delivering your content.
So when you’re at a loss for topics, you can come back to your list of planned blog subjects.
Here are some Blog Topic Ideas:
Use these ideas to help you plan out your blog.
a) Future predictions:
Everyone loves to read about what others think will happen! And to the extent that you can predict the industry trends in your marketplace, your readership will follow you.
b) Discuss the News:
Of course, not the general news, but news relevant to your industry or blog subject. What’s happening that you can talk about? There is always something happening that you can relate to your topic.
c) The elephant in the room:
Talk about the “elephant in the room” to become a leader in your industry. Talk about the stuff that no-one else will mention.
What is coming that people need to be made aware of? How can you prepare your readership to be better equipped for the new trends that are coming? What is technology going to do to or for people next? What are the release dates of new products? Getting the idea? What things frighten you . . talk about these. People will respond with heaps of comments in your blog.
And it is this 2-way communication that keeps your readership up and, importantly, also . . . piques Google’s interest!
d) Write reviews:
Reviewing other people’s work – their books, products or services – can lead to all sorts of interesting opportunities.
I recently heard of a guy who became a car writer after writing a scathing review online about a particular car. The other manufacturers contacted him, and it went from there!
It is also a great way to become a “filter” for your market. Find out what is good, what is interesting, and just provide the best of the best for your readers. They will appreciate it.
e) Other blogs:
You can even blog about other people’s blogs! Again, being the filter for your readers. Finding the best information for them – which saves them time.
Saving people time will hugely increase the value of your Blog, and your readership.
And that’s how Better Blogging Gets Results!
