A Psychology-Based Website Design

When it comes down to the design of a business website, one of the biggest and most common mistakes that many designers and business owners often make is that they build it based on their specifications.

When you design a website solely based on what you think is right, your customers do not necessarily share those same ideas and mindset.

The design of a business website should be engineered for the ideal customer of that specific business to create a better experience for their visitors, which will consequently lead to a higher probability of business being conducted.

A Psychology-Based Website DesignA psychology-based designed website should be the goal every business should aim for when creating an online presence for their organisation.

By incorporating and implementing a few basic human psychology principles in your design, your business will be well on its way towards a website that not only looks good, but will be great at converting as well.

Here are some tips on building a better website for your business:

Develop a Good Understanding of User Behaviour

This should be the crucial first step in every business’s design planning for a Psychology-Based Website Design.

Take your time to map out & understand who your online visitor is.

Try your best to see from that visitor’s point of view, and note down everything that makes them unique.

By doing this, you’ll be able to develop a website that suits their preferences, as well as incorporate some effective emotional triggers into your design and content.

Create a Sitemap

A sitemap will help you to decide the purpose of each page.

It’s also easier for the visitor of your site to find exactly where they need to go to get what they need.

The best way to create a good sitemap is to first generate a list of every element you want to have on your website, then break it down in smaller portions, ideally page by page. This way, you will not miss anything.

Break Down Your Brand

Make a list of brand elements you want to include in your design.

These elements will help to knit your site together, and strengthen the overall impact of your brand. Some of the most important elements are the site’s logo, the overall colour scheme, typography, etc.

Test, Test, and Test!

It’s important that you continually test different elements of your site.

This will help you to decipher which elements are working, and which are turning your users off.

Consistent testing will contribute to the process of developing a much stronger online presence than what you have in the first place.
